I enjoy jazz as I enjoy photography.  There's base structure to it (usually) with rules and guidelines that help to produce a consistent and quality product.  However, these rules, whether in jazz, photography, or any other art form, are expected to be challenged, stretched, and broken.  This is essential if anything new or fresh is going to emerge to stimulate our imaginations.  Exploring music through a visual media is daunting to say the least, but also satisfying on so many levels.  The excitement they feel on stage is akin to what I feel through a lens.
